IISE"s SS19 Draws Inspiration from Protests in South Korea
The relationship between communities and protests in South Korea is a driving force for Seoul-based label IISE"s fashion editorial. The lookbook of the Spring/Summer 2019 collection is expressively theatrical, serving as a vehicle not only to showcase the offerings for the season but also to provide the audience with an artistic interpretation of political turmoil.
The lookbook is said to be "inspired by Renaissance and Baroque period painters" and although the compositions of the photographs are quite striking and beautiful, the theme is surely ominous. This is a great example of how designers are using fashion to call attention to a specific political climate — be that the protests in South Korea or somewhere else.
