This asana has a lot of benefits. In Sanskrit, Uttana means rising and Padasana relates to the foot. This exercise has many advantages, by which we can undoubtedly improve our health.

Steps to perform the Utthanapdasana:

Lie down, flat on your back. Keep your legs together and your hands at the sides of your body. Let your palms rest on the floor.
• Take a deep breath and raise the right leg high in the air. Keep it straight and make sure your foot is relaxed.
• Your left leg should be straight and touching the floor.
• Hold up the right leg, for as long as you can.
• Then breathe out and slowly lower the right leg until it touches the floor.
• Repeat this exercise 5 times, for each of the legs.
• This exercise may also be done by lifting both the legs together.
This asana can be practiced 5 times a day, to get best results.
