Green Juice Recipe: The Green Envy

Green Juice Recipe : GREEN ENVY

Juicing provides a quick, easy and efficient way to meet your daily vitamin and mineral needs.

If you aren’t much of a fan of eating salads, green juices are a great way to consume ‘salad in a glass’.
Try to consume a full spectrum of colors of fruits and vegetables each week. By drinking the rainbow you are getting the full range of vitamins, minerals and living enzymes which all provide health benefits and healthy glow.

You really want to try and buy organic produce, not only because of the pesticides but also for the waxes that are added to fruits especially to keep the produce from spoiling and to keep them looking fresh.

INGREDIENTS AND PROCESS:
3 leaves kale – kale is a superfood rich in essential vitamins and minerals, especially calcium, potassium and iron
1 bunch cilantro – herbs are rich in vitamins, minerals and chlorophyll and really vary the flavor.
1 cup spinach – powerhouse of vitamins. Spinach also contains twice as much iron as other greens.
1 cucumber – Cucumbers are extremely high in water content, and contain a large amount of potassium, which is excellent for maintaining healthy, youthful skin and are a good source of folate and Vitamin C and K while being cleansing. If you can’t get organic, then peel the skin which has wax on it.
1 carrot One of the most commonly consumed vegetables, it is the highest source of provitamin A carotenes and adds a sweetness to many bitter-tasting vegetable juices. You want to use a vegetable brush is excellent for scrubbing the skins of carrots which will remove the bitter qualities without sacrificing the nutrition of the skins.
1 green apple – adds a little tart. Definitely buy organic apples, as they are often waxed to keep them fresher, if you can’t find organic, you can always peel off the waxy skin, however, the downside of this is that many of the nutritional benefits are concentrated in the skin and outer layers.

To prevent the juices from going even slightly brown (that is oxidizing and damaging their nutrient content), drink them immediately, or pour in a squeeze of lemon juice or a spoon of vitamin C powder.

Juicing – get into this instant source of nutrition!
