Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke on Wednesday lauded President Donald Trump for his opposition to birthright citizenship for U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, predicting “he’ll prevail at the Supreme Court.”
In an interview on Newsmax TV’s “America Talks Live,” Clarke asserted “this concept of universal birthright citizenship is a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendement.”

“The president is right on this, and is going to prevail at the Supreme Court level,” Clarke said.
“This mess, concept of universal birthright citizenship leads to chain migration,” Clarke added, saying Trump “is going to put an end to that too well.”
Clarke also weighed in on the more than 5,000 troops sent to the southwest border as a massive caravan of Central American refugees head to the United States to seek entry.
“As a force multiplier they"re going to be very important,” he said of the troops, noting “they they won"t be down there to enforce the law, making arrests, but if these numbers show up at the border all at once… it"s going to overwhelm the Border Patrol."
