The Rock Posts A Picture Of His "Cheat Meal," Reminds Us Of His Ridiculous Diet

On Sunday, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared an image of his "cheat meal," which turned out to just be an entire restaurant"s worth of sushi:

This, naturally, reminded us of two of the most popular articles we"ve ever posted on Digg: FiveThirtyEight"s "Here"s What Happened When Some Dude Ate Like The Rock For A Month." It"s an article we revisit often, if only because even a couple years on, Johnson"s diet is still scarcely believable. The original Muscle & Fitness article that sparked it details the 7 meals Johnson eats on an average day — between his first two meals he eats 18 ounces of cod, 2 cups of oatmeal, 2 whole eggs, 12 ounces of sweet potato and a cup of vegetables. And by the end of the day, he"s up to 36 ounces (2.25 pounds) of cod.

But it works — provided you hit the gym, a lot. Daniel Webster, whose experiment with the diet is summarized in the FiveThirtyEight piece, did the routine for a month, working out for an average of 2 hours a day:

By the end of the project, Webster’s weight had barely moved — already an active person, he started out at 206 pounds and finished 30 days later at 207 — but he had gained a solid amount of muscle mass. “My arms have gotten a little bigger, the upper parts of my legs have gotten bigger, and I’ve gotten leaner, which is again totally unexpected,” he said. “I feel amazing.

Seems stressful, which is why everyone — including The Rock — gets a cheat day.
