The Manhattan is a classic. But it’s difficult to resist shaking up the routine when The Royal Hawaiian Hotel mixologist Ryan Tanji fuses smooth bourbon with robust Mad Hatter’s Teaparty Loose Leaf Blend. And he doesn’t stop there— the talented bartender also specially creates a Tealeaves Vermouth and Aromatic Bitters for the drink. We’re all in for a mad treat.

THE MADHATTAN by The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort

2 oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon
1 oz. Mad Hatter"s Teaparty Vermouth
2 dashes Tealeaves Aromatic Blended Bitters or Angostura Bitters
1/4 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

Preparation:
1. Fill a shaker with ice.
2. Measure ingredients in a shaker.
3. Stir thoroughly with spoon.
4. Strain cocktail into highball glass filled with ice.
5. Garnish with orange rind.

*Mad Hatter’s Teaparty Vermouth
1 bottle Jovino Pinot Gris
1 cup Mad Hatter’s Teaparty Loose Leaf Blend
6 oz. Remy Martin VSOP, Infused with Zest of 1 Orange for 1 day
1 cup Sugar, Caramelized with 1/4 cup Water

*Preparation:
1. Heat wine with tea, reducing liquid to bring out flavors.
2. Blend with remaining ingredients.
3. Cool for later use.
